Tangy fruit and vegetable salad

1 large onion, sliced

2tsp salt

2tbsp white vinegar

1½tbsp sugar

2 red apples, sliced

1 green apple, sliced

2 celery stalks, sliced

1 pineapple, cubed
1 green chilli, chopped finely

2tbsp fresh dhunia, chopped

10ml paprika for sprinkling


In a bowl combine onion and salt and set aside for 10min, then knead the onion slices gently with the fingers to soften. Rinse quickly and drain.
Pour vinegar and sugar over the onion and set aside while the remaining salad ingredients are prepared.
Combine the salad ingredients, sprinkle with paprika and chilli.
Serve with a main meal of choice.
